Fresh content drives traffic!
When I started in this industry 16 years ago, I looked at the web as a world of static pages that provided static information.
Move forward to today and all I can think of is how can we make our clients sites engaging and timely in their delivery of information? I mean if a site stays stale then why should visitors come back? Well we strive to offer our clients a mix of syndicated information and the ability to provide website specific information. Getting the syndicated information is simple, just focus the information and topics to the site. But what about that information that will drive visitors to their site for the site specific services and products they offer? This is a challenge for the owner of the site when they are busy running their business and living a busy life like most of us do.
So here is a recipe that seems to work for most people I talk with.
1. Aim for a consistent schedule for posting information
2. start with a medium that doesn't take a lot of effort.
- A blog can be a paragraph or 2 maybe once a week
- A new product review is a great way to introduce a product or re-introduce
an existing one to boost sales. - Twitter is a "tweet" that is 140 characters or less that could drive them to
a new page or product using a smaller URL (tiny URL etc) - Videos or Photos always are engaging but a bit more time consuming.
- An article or review will draw more people to your site and can be used to
point them to other sections of your website
3. when you start, give it a shot at taking hold. You will gain a following if your posts are engaging and constant.
These are just some ideas to engage your website visitors. Remember that this is also a crucial part of increasing your search engine presence. Contact us if you have any questions about the use of social media on your site or how we can help you to integrate it.
Till next week....
